Understanding a brow lift procedure

By Rick Smith, MD

Posted

A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, is a procedure that focuses on correcting the effects of aging on our upper face. Frown lines begin to form between the eyebrows, horizontal wrinkles on the forehead and eyebrows can begin to drop.

The result for some is a face that doesn’t express their true emotions. A brow lift can restore a natural and healthy expression. The surgery is performed on an outpatient basis with small incisions placed in the hairline.

While brow lifts are often cosmetic procedures they also can be performed for medical reasons when the weight of the brow is causing drooping of the eyelids and affecting a person’s eyesight.  Recovery is typically 7-10 days.
