FRIDAY, Nov. 27 — Lansing Poet Laureate Laura Apol is joining EVERYbody Reads bookstore for an online fundraising event to benefit the Greater Lansing Food Bank’s Garden Project. The Zoom livestream show offers spoken word performances from Apol and several other Lansing area poets. To check out the online charity event, you must register on its Eventbrite page and receive the Zoom access link via your submitted email address.

“COVID has not only made it impossible for us to host our annual ‘We Care Friday’ event at the store this year, but it has also — and more importantly — made accessing healthy food more difficult for our friends, families, neighbors and coworkers,” said Scott Harris of EVERYbody Reads in a press release. “Please join the EVERYbody Reads bookstore, and Lansing Poet Laureate Laura Apol as we welcome an impressive collection of passionate and talented mid-Michigan poets sharing their creations!”

The Greater Lansing Food Bank Garden Project provides access to land and agricultural education. It supports a network of 115 community gardens and 500 home gardens and helps feed more than 8,000 people across mid-Michigan. To learn more about the project, visit its website.
